During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump threatened to label China a currency manipulator and promised to impose a 45% tariff to undo its unfair advantage. As with other policies, his position has evolved. The currency manipulation chat has faded from the presidentís agenda and the Trump administration is now focusing on what it considers an unfair application of tariffs to gain a comparative advantage or to protect a domestic industry.
